erhielt 1982 seinen Studienabschluss im Fach “künstlerische Ausbildung Saxophon” mit Auszeichnung von der Akademie für Musik in Kraków, Polen, unter der Leitung von Prof. Lesław Lic. Er führte seine Saxophon-Studien bei Günter Priesner in Nürnberg fort, wo er aktiv am 7. Welt Saxophon Kongress teilnahm. Er präsentierte dort polnische Saxophonwerke und nahm teil an den Master Classes von Jean-Marie Londeix, Iwan Roth und Ed Bogaard. Andrzej Rzymkowski ist ein prominenter Dozent und wird sowohl in Polen als auch weltweit eingeladen Master Classes zu geben. Außerdem ist er international ein gefragter Juror für Saxophonwettbewerbe.

Andrzej Rzymkowski gründete die Polnische Saxophon Gesellschaft, dessen Präsident er ist; und er ist Ehrenmitglied der Deutschen Saxophon Gesellschaft: ARDESA (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Saxophonisten e.V.). Im Jahr 1987 gründete er in Lublin die Musikwerkstatt zur Entwicklung und Förderung neuer Werke polnischer Komponisten für Saxophone. Seit 1994 ist er Gründungs-Mitglied von Orsax-Duo, spezialisiert auf Werke für Saxophon und Orgel.

Eine größere Zahl von Komponisten und Komponistinnen schufen Saxophon-Werke für ihn, die er zur Uraufführung brachte. Beispielhaft seien genannt: Zbigniew Bujarski, Magdalena Długosz, Mariusz Dubaj, Adam Heideman, Bertold Hummel, Maciej Jabłoński, Mieczysław Mazurek, Tadeusz Karol Mazurek, Maciej Negrey, Bogusław Schaeffer, Adam Walaciński, Łukasz Woś, Ewa Zuchowicz.

Er wirkt in zahlreichen internationalen music festivals mit, darunter: Jeunesses Musicales of Kielce (Polen), Music in Old Cracow (Polen), Contrasts – Festival of Contemporary Music Lviv (Ukraine), Pegnitzschäfer Nürnberg, International Music Festival Debrecen (Ungarn), Avantgarde Schwaz (Österreich), XV International Saxophone Stage, Fermo (Italien).

Andrzej Rzymkowski ist international aktiv als Solist und Kammermusiker. Zu den Orchestern, mit denen er bisher Saxophonkonzerte aufführte, gehören: Philharmonics of Kraków, Kielce, Lublin, Wałbrzych; Polnische National-Philharmonie, Capella Cracoviensis and Göttinger Symphonie Orchester.

Als Professor für Saxophon leitet er sowohl die Holz- als auch die Blech-Bläser- und Akkordeonabteilung an der Musik-Akademie Kraków.

Received his degree in Saxophone Performance with honors in 1982 from the Academy of Music in Kraków, Poland under the guidance Prof. Lesław Lic. Continued his instrumental studies under the direction of Günter Priesner in Nuremberg, Germany. Participated in World Saxophone Congresses and in the International Master Classes conducted by Professors Jean-Marie Londeix, Iwan Roth and Ed Bogaard. Is a prominent lecturer at master classes in Poland and abroad as well as a juror at national and international saxophone competitions.

Andrzej Rzymkowski is the founder and President of the Polish Saxophone Association as well as an honorary member of the German Saxophone Association: ARDESA (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Saxophonisten e.V.). In 1987 he founded a Music Laboratory in Lublin, Poland with the purpose to promote contemporary saxophone music and in 1994 created the Orsax-Duo, an ensemble specializing in chamber music for saxophone and organ.

Has given premiere performances of numerous works dedicated to him by Polish and foreign composers including: Zbigniew Bujarski, Magdalena Długosz, Mariusz Dubaj, Adam Heideman, Bertold Hummel, Maciej Jabłoński, Mieczysław Mazurek, Tadeusz Karol Mazurek, Maciej Negrey, Bogusław Schaeffer, Adam Walaciński, Łukasz Woś, Ewa Zuchowicz.

Very active as a soloist and chamber musician in Poland and abroad. Has performed with many orchestras including: Philharmonics of Kraków, Kielce, Lublin, Wałbrzych; National Philharmonic (Poland), Capella Cracoviensis and Göttinger Symphonie Orchester (Germany).

Currently employed as Professor of Saxophone in the Woodwinds, and Accordion Department at the Academy of Music in Kraków, Poland. He has been the Head of the Brass Deparment at the same place since 2012/13.
